Ebenezer Elementary Teacher of the Year

 

Misti Vandenhouten is a Special Education Adaptive teacher at Ebenezer Elementary School located in the Effingham County School District in Rincon, Georgia. Mrs. Vandenhouten teaches grades K-5 in her classroom. Mrs. Vandenhouten holds a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education as well as a Master’s degree in Special Education from Georgia Southern University. Mrs. Vandenhouten is proud to have been named Special Education teacher of the year in 2015 at Effingham County Middle School and to have also been nominated for Ebenezer Elementary School's teacher of the year award for the past 3 years. Her most prideful accomplishment is helping to create the Best Buddies Program at Ebenezer Elementary School in 2022. Mrs. Vandenhouten's goal is to help foster an inclusive environment for all students to feel welcome and be a part of. She feels that Ebenezer Elementary has achieved that, which helps to create a family atmosphere for students, parents, and staff.
